Carrying a Lady Dior Wallet in your bag is pride, because it’s one of the most famous accessories in the world. The Lady Dior is beyond its look, it’s also functional and durable. Overall, it’s a luxury item put together with care, which is what Dior stands for.

A new type of wallet has just arrived and it’s added to the Lady Dior Collection. Meet the Yen Wallet for the Fall 2017 Collection.

The Design

The Lady Dior and the house’s Cannage Stitching are like twins, they cannot be separated. That’s why the Yen Wallet is also designed with Cannage Topstitching. The side features a zipper in shiny hardware, which is attached to the smooth version of the DIOR charm. The wallet opens like a zip around wallet and the inside is lovely as well.

For this season, the Yen Wallet is also available in metallic and grained calfskin. This leather is strong and tough, so you don’t need to baby it much.

The interior

The inside is made with tone-on-tone lambskin lining. The interior is structured with 6 flat pockets, 8 credit card slots and 1 zipped pocket. There is enough space for all your necessities, but it’s still a compact wallet with no extra compartment for other items.

Measuring 18 x 11 cm, the expected price is €600 euro, £500 GBP via Dior boutiques.

Python is a bit pricey, but the feel is different than normal leather. Meet the Chanel Clutch with Chain from the Pre-Fall 2017 Collection. Compare it with the Wallet On Chain, but twice the price and twice the luxury. This special handbag is for the important evenings, when you need to dress perfect from top to toe.

Delivered in metallic python, which means it goes beyond the luxury leather. The python leather is boasted with shiny metallic, giving it a bright look. So don’t be surprised when all the attention is on you.

The front is refined with the classic interlocking CC logo and it’s available in two different hardware, depending on the color of the bag. The classic black comes with a ruthenium hardware and the golden version is made with ruthenium black hardware. Both looks stylish and a bit vintage.

Even tough this bag is a clutch; it does come with a long shoulder chain. The beautiful chain looks like a jewelry and be used to carry on your shoulder.

The gold edition has the style code is A91600, the black version has the style code A91598, both are measured 5.1’ x 9.1’ x 2.8’ inches, priced at $4300 USD, €4200 euro, £3730 GBP, $33100 HKD, ¥532440 JPY, ¥32500 CNY via Chanel boutiques.

Alexus Bucket Bag

Other Brands

If you know me, you’ll have figured out that I love my bags structured. Not that I have anything against slouchy and soft, but a structured bag is just more aesthetically pleasing to me. And with that in mind, here’s something from local label Alexus that’s caught my eye.

Crafted in an independent atelier with over 40 years of experience creating leather goods for big luxury brands and smaller designers alike (I’m assuming the bags are made in Italy) and using only premium quality calfskin that’s finished with Swiss-made Riri zips, the 19 cm by 19 cm bucket comes equipped with a top handle, along with a pair of removable slings. Yes, guys, not one, but two slings, one thin, one thick, so you can decide on any given day which one would work better for you (or your outfit).

The best thing? The bucket bag (which comes in two colours, Black and Graphite, by the way) is now priced at USD280 (around SGD383 after conversion). In other words, for something that looks this good and presumably made this well (I haven’t seen it in person so I can’t vouch for it), it’s definitely worth the SGD383 you’ll be spending on it. What’s more, express international shipping is included in the price so you don’t really have a reason not to.

A Close Look at Salvatore Ferragamo’s Colorful, Cool Bag Collaboration with Sara Battaglia

Other Brands

In collaboration with Ferragamo.

When I think of Ferragamo, I think of a classic, traditionally Italian approach to leather goods. In the world of designer handbags, when many brands are trying to grab attention and make the next It Bag by any means necessary, Ferragamo stays true to its core, focusing on expert craftsmanship and quality products instead of gimmicks and flash. When you buy from the brand, you know you’re getting a bag that’s sophisticated and elegant. Now, Ferragamo has teamed up with style star Sara Battaglia to chart new aesthetic territory with a new capsule collection.

The minute I saw this collection, I fell for it. I’m a Ferragamo girl at heart (also, can we talk about how the brand’s shoes are easily some of the most perfect-in-every-way designer shoes out there?), and I’m always looking for something new. In partnering with Sara Battaglia, who has her own handbag line and is known for her creative and innovative use of shapes, colors, and design (just as Salvatore himself was during the brand’s inception), Ferragamo has created a range of bags that immediately grab your attention.

Sara Battaglia brings her playful style to the line with two of Ferragamo’s iconic motifs: the zigzag and the House’s Gancio emblem. The end result is masterful craftsmanship that showcases geometric patterns in colorful combinations. From a small shoulder bag, to a tote, to a cool bucket bag, there is an option for everyone.

As far as the colors go, there’s classic black and white, black and green (which is an online exclusive and personal favorite), a white and beige with subtle touches of every color of the rainbow, and the combo I call fire, with its ombre red-to-orange-to-yellow combination. The colorways are bold and perfectly suited to each bag to create stand-out accessories.

Though there are many bags being offered in this collection, I have two favorites: the Ferragamo Zigzag Capsule Mini Flap Bag and the Ferragamo Zigzag Top Handle Bag. Both of these bags are oh-so-me in so many ways. First off, let’s talk about the Zigzag Mini Flap Bag. The green-and-black colorway is exclusive to Ferragamo.com, and this mini bag immediately stuck out to me (there’s also black/white and red/orange/yellow combinations, and each pack a stylistic punch).

Right now, I either carry an oversized bag with everything I need for Millie or I go bare minimum, and this bag would fit the times I want a small bag to carry. This bag measures 5.5″ x 6.6″ x 2.1″, which makes it a true mini bag. This is the ideal night-out bag that will work with any outfit and surely stand out with its bold black and green geometric zigzag exterior, along with the gold Gancio closure with a starburst plate. The shoulder strap has a long 20″ drop, and there’s an open back pocket, interior zip pocket, and leather lining. Buy exclusively via Ferragamo.com for $1,590.

ferragamo zigzag top handle bag

My other favorite from the collection reminds me of a vanilla ice cream cone with colored sprinkles, and, I mean, who doesn’t feel happy at the thought of that? I am obsessed with this bag. The cream-and-white zigzag leather has green, blue, pink, red, and yellow piping along each zigzag, and this bag also has the coolest removable zigzag strap, which I’m obsessing over. The bag is still small in size, but larger than the Mini Flap Bag and easier to load up with a wider variety of essentials. This is one of those bags that isn’t too out there, color-wise, but still offers a fresh spin on classic Ferragamo style. The end result is a sophisticated edginess. Buy via Ferragamo.com for $2,100.

ferragamo zigzag bucket bag

The collection includes plenty more bags that use the zigzag in unexpected and striking ways, including totes, buckets, mini bags and more. The Bucket Bag is a really unique design, as the body of the bag is structured and the handle is made of metal. Each melds Ferragamo’s heritage with its present point of view in a way that works so well, creating an impeccably made design with a twist. Shop the entire Sara Battaglia for Salvatore Ferragamo Collection on Ferragamo.com.

Chanel: Mademoiselle Privé Seoul

Other Brands

If you’ve been following my antics on Instagram the last couple of days, you’ll know the following: I’m currently in Seoul where I attended the preview of Mademoiselle Privé, an exhibition that gives you an up-close and personal view of Chanel’s origins and the French luxury house’s many sources of inspiration. The second chapter of this exhibition (the first Mademoiselle Privé was held in London in 2015), it will run from 23 June to 19 July 2017 at D Museum. Chanel fans, if you’re heading to Seoul anytime soon, this is THE place you want to go to get an even better understanding of the brand you love.

So what can you expect from this exhibition? Lots. From the moment you step into the museum, you are greeted by a floor-to-ceiling installation of Gabrielle Chanel’s Coromandel lacquered screens’ patterns that span over the staircase as you walk down towards the next exhibit. There’s a room devoted to Gabrielle Chanel’s first boutique that originally just sold hats, there’s another room featuring large totem sculptures that reference Chanel’s codes and symbols –lucky charms, patterns, specific colours, basically all that was dear to Coco Chanel now reinterpreted by Karl Lagerfeld.

There’s a room dedicated to the iconic fragrance, N°5. There’s a fabric maze made up of everything used at Chanel’s ateliers (think large swaths of lace, silk chiffon and tweed hung from ceiling to floor) that you have to make your way through.

On the second floor it gets even better. Going through or in this case, going past Coco Chanel’s Mademoiselle Privé studio door, you are greeted by 17 actresses, models and friends of the house, wearing Haute Couture and adorned with high jewellery from the Bijoux de Diamants collection. Also my favourite space in the whole exhibition, this is Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel at his best, bringing together large-scale portraits printed on paper-thin sheets that flutter up and down as exhibit constantly moves.

There’s a giant cage at the back of the hall featuring the above-mentioned jewellery pieces, and there’s a ‘photo-booth’ featuring black and whites of all your favourites (if you are a fan of G-Dragon, Irene Kim and Soo Joo Park, this is where you head straight into).

Another Chanel experience that should not be missed, it’s also free admission to all; you just have to download the Mademoiselle Privé app via App Store to book your tickets. There are also workshops scheduled, including one for Lesage (embroiderer), another for Lemarié (feather and flower maker), one for high jewellery and N°5 workshops highlighting the craftsmanship and savoir-faire of Chanel. In other words, don’t miss out!
